Childhood eye conditions like amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (crossed eyes) are now easier than ever to treat successfully thanks to our pediatric vision therapy here at Orange Coast Eye Center. It is our goal to always offer the most advanced treatments to ensure you that your child’s eye health and vision are being addressed with the kind of attentive care you want.
Your child may have 20/20 vision, but if his or her eyes are not working properly in conjunction with each other, that won’t mean very much. Problems like amblyopia and strabismus are not necessarily eye issues. They simply affect the eyes. They are related to the way your child’s brain is processing the signals coming from her or his eyes. Your child has two sets of eye muscles that work together to provide proper eyesight. One set of muscles provides clarity, the other is responsible for seeing in tandem, which prevents double vision. Our Huntington Beach children’s eye care can tell you that when both eyes are not working together, the outcome is either crossed eyes, one eye being weaker than the other, or both. The real concern is that if they are not addressed in a timely manner, they can become permanent. But with our Huntington Beach children’s eye care, this can be headed off. Symptoms that you should be aware of include eye rubbing, headaches, squinting, double vision, closing one eye while reading or writing, missing words while reading or substituting words when reading, difficulties doing homework, and complete lack of desire to read. If you notice one or more of the above signs, you should bring your child in to find out if our pediatric vision therapy is applicable.
